The hidden tresures of Venice - What have you found?
The entire area of Venice is a hidden treasure. I just wish to share a small part of it with you from our resent, too short a visit.
Arriving by train is the best!!!! Stepping out of this train
station to the bustling canal open in front of you, sun shining, ferries
jostling – it’s the best buzz. This place is alive and I was at my most
happiest.
This elegant lady of a city is full of art, fashion, style,
history and the best people waiting place in the world! This place may be old –
but the people and the latest fashion trends are not.
The latest fashion
accessory here for 2017 is most definitely the dog! Ye the dog. We saw pooches
crimped to perfection, styled with trims and tails - it was so most fun sitting
back and looking at the parade of people and pets strutting their stuff with
the hippest, funkiest fashion ever.
For a more reserved
historical and cultured feel, you only need to wander down a few quiet allays
like we did and stumble upon a antique market.
Now a market like this in
Venice would be high end costly antique sale in Australia. The wares here are most
definitely of an ancient feel and you could find some unique pieces. – This market is on monthly – details of when
and where – see below in this post. But it was a great find! I only wish I had the space in my suitcase 😞
Around and down
another alley you would stumble into a piazza surrounded by a crumbling old
church or a quiet cafe bar...joy!
There are so many hidden pockets in Venice that you can find if you
direct yourself away from the maddening crowd

I also told you in a earlier post about my first visit to Venice and how I stayed in a piazza along side the Teatro La Fenice. Well, I revisited this location as I wanted to see if it was anything like I remember - well - it wasn't! The theatre had been renovated since the fire in 1900's and the bar in the square had changed hands, but I could still feel that same atmosphere from my first time here 24 year ago.
Recommendations on our special accommodation and restaurant finds:
I cannot recommend more highly our airbnb location 'Crea house'. The owners were fantastic. Helping to make both our arrival and departure stress free. Advising on the best vaporetto to catch and stops to disembark from. To helping with great restaurant recommendations, which I will list below.
The apartment was newly renovated - and beautiful, spacious and clean. And the location, next to the Cheisa della Spirti Santi - on Zattere stop -only 5-10 mins walk from The Academia bridge and only meters from the main canal. It was magical!
