Our World in Lockdown
With these strange and ever changing times around us, I have like all of us, had the time to ponder how this affects both the world we live in and our own individual space.
Looking at how this pandemic is affecting other parts of the world is both shocking and scary as we Australians are guarded and protected by our island continent. This protection does also, however create for me, a feeling of separation which is strange.
Like most travel lovers, I have viewed the world as my playground to explore. To see and experience all the varied cultures and landscapes as I wished. But now, I am faced with the thought that I never, ever imagined I would face.
That I can not move and travel as I wish.
That borders are now locked and we have no clear idea of when this or if, may change.
To image the idea of never being able to depart and explore our world makes me very sad.

I am sure that soon this will change and we can again visit and explore but this time does make you appreciate and be thankful for all our past adventures and helps me to prioritise how I use my future.
Do I want to return to the 'norms' of my past lifestyle or do I want to spend my time building a freer lifestyle, doing things I enjoy and love?
Some of you reading may already be in that space of freedom and are living the dream. I, however am still always working to find my 'happier place'. Using this time to reflect, search and find a direction to that 'place' is my goal today.
On a lighter note - I am also now more decisive when planning and choosing my next destinations - anywhere - right!

For me, it will be southern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. Southern Italy is my roots. As mentioned in a earlier blog a village called San Fele is where my Mother's family are from so I still find a need to explore the region. Its been over 20 years since I was last there so, its time. I also want to explore the less touristy areas of southern Italy (even though they too, are now becoming more popular) as well as Sicily.

But really, where do you plan to travel to, the moment that you can? Please share your next destination or best experience and why.
